Hexbug is heavily inspired by cyberpunk aesthetics and films such as Ghost in the Shell, Blade Runner, and Akira. The form is rigid and structured with rounded inner corners to mimic welded metal.

Variations include a regular and italic set. Along with a visual poster and a box which embodies and translates the typeface its aesthetics into a physical form.
